The Fellner and Helmer story – The forgotten Stars who built Europe´s Theatres

They were the star architects of European theatre construction, building over 60 of them over the years. More than 40 of these buildings are still standing, from Hamburg to Odessa to Salzburg to Czernowitz. Today Helmer and Fellner have been erased from European memory, expelled from the olympics of historically great architects. Yet they were perhaps the most successful architects of all time: Modern, well-connected and efficient. The film details the story of their rapid ascent. Their creations were entrenched in the social upheavals in Europe before and during the First World War. The film looks behind the scenes and documents the multi-faceted story of their activity where events were produced, practiced, reshaped and presented: in the theatres created by Helmer and Fellner.
