Mostviertel – More than Cider

White tigers, pear leather, gold spinning—those who take a closer look will discover that the Mostviertel is much more than just cider. Behind it all are people who have found their true calling and their place in life. Heimatleuchten is on their trail. From a tunnel engineer who abandoned an international career to become a camel theater director and zoo operator in the middle of nowhere, to a farmer’s son from Lungau who, as a mountain-biking forester at Göttweig Abbey, is working small miracles. And then there’s the woman who dreams of adorning the skeleton of a real saint. The latest Heimatleuchten episode by Fritz Kalteis seeks out strong personalities who once decided to leave everything behind and carve out new paths between Ybbs and the Vienna Woods, between the Danube and Ötscher.
