"Last Hero" is the comic-absurd David-versus-Goliath story of Soviet rock musicians who, in their own way, helped bring about the fall of the calcified and repressive Soviet system. Despite being banned and harassed by the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, rock musicians in the 1960s and 1970s managed, through astounding ways and means, to bring their underground music to millions of people. In doing so, they provided young people with new perspectives. This rock movement against the apparatchiks helped usher in the era of Perestroika.
