A Waldviertler, That´s three People

Deep green as far as the eye can see. The Waldviertel is known for its coniferous forests, moss-covered boulders, and proud castles. It is a unique, character-rich landscape filled with fascinating and extraordinary people. Many of them have found their purpose in traditional crafts, such as the poppy-growing Greßl family, metal spinner Rudolf Effenberger, or glassblower Apfelthaler. We learn all about their passion for their craft and their way of life, and we meet other Waldviertel originals—like the athletes competing in the timber sports event EUROJACK. The poppy bloom, poppy harvest, apple harvest, and fish harvesting are highlights of the annual Waldviertel cycle and must not be missed. The blooming poppy fields are not just vibrant splashes of color but also the foundation for a variety of poppy-based products. In the Waldviertel Mushroom Garden, mushrooms are growing in competition with one another, thanks to the passionate dedication of Magdalena Wurth and Moritz Wildenauer.
