History

The Vienna-based film production company WEGA-Film was founded in 1980 by Dr. Veit Heiduschka.
Between its breakthrough in 1986 with the crime comedy MÜLLER’S BÜRO, directed by Niki List, and winning the Academy Award (“Oscar”) for Best Foreign Language Film for AMOUR, directed by Michael Haneke, in 2013, WEGA-Film has produced over 50 feature films, more than 20 television films, and over 20 documentaries over the past three decades.

With its diverse portfolio of documentary and feature films, WEGA-Film is today one of Austria’s leading film production companies.
